Symposium Exhibition

Dear artists,

Expression of Interest:
ICES-PICES 7th International Zooplankton Production Symposium
Art-Science Exhibition
The Bond Store (TMAG)
17-22 March, 2024

The planning committee for the upcoming International Zooplankton Production Symposium wishes to invite you to contribute your artwork to an associated exhibition that will focus on the captivating world of zooplankton. As a local artist, we believe your unique artistic perspective will greatly enhance the exhibition and provide visitors with a deeper understanding and appreciation of these fascinating organisms.

We are expecting over 350 delegates, most of them international. To date, we have interest from the UK, Canada, Japan, China, Brazil, USA, Germany, India, South Africa, Denmark and France. The list of countries will no doubt grow after we advertise more widely. The symposium will be face-to-face, which will increase the number of visitors to Hobart. Many attendees will undoubtedly stay extra days in Hobart for tourism and/or side meetings with colleagues.

The exhibition aims to showcase the intricate beauty and ecological importance of zooplankton, highlighting their significant role in marine and freshwater ecosystems. Through this event, we hope to inspire environmental awareness and promote conservation efforts among our local community. Your plankton-inspired artwork would contribute to creating a visually stunning and thought-provoking experience for visitors.

I must mention that our organization has limited funds allocated for this exhibition. Therefore, we kindly request that participating artists provide their own means of mounting and presenting their artwork. This could include suitable frames, pedestals, or any other display materials necessary for the proper presentation of your art. We understand that this may require an investment on your part, and we sincerely appreciate your willingness to contribute despite these constraints.

Participating artists will have the opportunity to showcase their work alongside other talented individuals within the local artistic community. Your artwork will be prominently displayed, and we will ensure proper recognition and promotion of your artistic contributions throughout the exhibition. Additionally, there may be opportunities for media coverage of your artwork during the event. We encourage and invite you to use this as an opportunity to sell your work.

If you are interested in participating, we kindly request that you complete and submit this EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FORM by 30 September 2023. Please include a brief description of the artwork you intend to contribute, highlighting its relevance to the zooplankton theme.

Should you have any questions or require further information, please do not hesitate to contact me via email at or by phone at 0411 668 418. We are more than happy to provide any assistance or clarification you may need.

Thank you for considering our invitation to contribute your art to this exciting exhibition. Your involvement would greatly enrich the event and help us create a truly remarkable experience for our community. We eagerly look forward to hearing from you and hope to have the privilege of displaying your artwork in the upcoming zooplankton exhibition.
