Financial Support

Financial Support Application criteria:

  1. We welcome applications by ECOPs (Early Career Ocean Professionals — self-identified Early Career Professionals in the beginning of their career, with 10 years or less of professional experience) to attend the meeting.
  2. Session and Workshop Invited Speakers (invited by Convenors) are eligible to apply for partial travel support (no CV required).
  3. The applicant must submit at least one abstract to the session/workshop of their choice.
  4. As funds are limited, priority will be given to eligible applicants requiring only partial support (e.g. airfare or hotel/allowance).

Required Documents:

  1. Short Curriculum Vitae (CV) (ECOP only)
  2. Financial Support Application
  3. Abstract*

    * Financial support application will not be considered without an abstract.


Steps to Apply for Financial Support or Update Financial Support Application:

  1. Pre-register for the event (on-line);
  2. Submit an abstract (on-line);
  3. Submit CV (ECOP only) and Financial Support Application (on-line);

Financial Support Grant Result Notification:

Once the selection process is done, all applicants should receive a notification email whether you are granted or not granted from PICES Secretariat.

If you have not received a notification email by the Financial Support Notification deadline in the right-side column "Important Dates" of this page, please check your junk box, and contact Saeseul Kim at your earliest convenience.

Confirm Your Financial Support Acceptance:

When your receive a Financial Support Notification email from PICES Secretariat, please confirm your Grant Acceptance simply by replying to the notification email. If your financial support application has not been approved, please let us know if you are still going to attend the event and present your paper.

How to receive your financial support:

You will receive instructions how to receive your financial support when you confirm your financial support acceptance. Please note that your travel grant will be given after the event begins, once we check your in person attendance at the event.

PICES cannot reimburse travel expense losses for any reasons, and that coverage and travel insurance protections should be supported by the home institutions of the meeting participants. You are strongly encouraged to discuss your travel arrangements with your home institutions prior to booking travel and accommodation, and wherever feasible, book refundable options.
