FUTURE ECOP SEES AWARD

FUTURE ECOP Award (FULL Travel Support) has been established for Early Career Ocean Professionals (ECOP) whose work employs the Socio-Ecological Environmental System (SEES) approach.

One awardee will be selected by FUTURE SSC from the abstracts submitted to any Sessions at the PICES Annual Meeting. The abstracts should fit FUTURE themes and/or address the SEES approach taken for the study. The travel of a successful applicant will be fully supported.

Applicants should complete an online application for Financial Support, before the application deadline (see IMPORTANT Dates, right-side menu), using PICES on-line system for Annual Meeting Registration, abstract submissions, and financial support applications.

See the FUTURE ECOP Award page and contact FUTURE SSC Co-Chairs Dr. Steven J. Bograd and Prof. Hanna Na for further details.

ECOP PRESENTATION AWARD

Outstanding Presentation Awards

  • One award will be presented by each Standing Committee to the best ECOP oral and poster presentations.

Objective of the Award

  • Recognize and encourage excellence and engage early career professionals.

Who is eligible?

A scientist is eligible for the best oral or poster presentation, if:

  • they self-identify as an early career professional in the beginning of their career, with ten years or less of professional experience and
  • the presentation is primarily their work and
  • they will present the information

How to apply?

  • No special application is required. Eligible presentations will be considered for an award if the Presenter registered as an ECOP.

Who will decide and what are the criteria?

The Best Presentation Award decisions will be made by the Standing Committee Chairs who will select one Oral and one Poster Award recipient among the sessions and workshops sponsored by a particular Committee (*only posters are judged for workshop presenters).

Applications will be assessed on clarity, presentation, originality of work, and scientific excellence.

Awards recognize the quality of the presentations - not the career achievements of the scientists.

When the Award is announced?

The announcements about the Best Presentation Award are made during the Meeting's Closing Ceremony.
