The ECCWO Planning Committee welcomes all accredited journalists to attend the Symposium free of charge. To attend please register using our on-line Symposium pre/registration system. (If you have any registration problems please contact Julia Yazvenko, PICES Secretariat)

We will provide a media room with information on the Symposium and other resources including daily highlights etc. Space will be available for interview recording.

Leading researchers from more than 50 nations will gather next month in Washington, D.C., to discuss the latest science on climate change impacts on ocean ecosystems. Recognizing the ocean's valuable contributions to people, economies and nations, the 4th International Symposium on the Effects of Climate Change on the World's Oceans (@ECCWO) provides a unique forum for scientists and experts to share information, highlight activities, build partnerships and shape the future of this important field.

The 4th International Symposium on the Effects of Climate Change on the World's Oceans continues a series of international meetings (occurring every 3-4 years) that respond to the urgent need to better understand, prepare for and respond to the impacts of climate change on the world's oceans. Organizers include:
  • the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES)
  • the North Pacific Marine Sciences Organization (PICES)
  • the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of UNESCO
  • Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO)
  • NOAA is the local sponsor of the conference.
