  • PICES is sad to hear that Kim Juniper passed away on 7 June 2024 and we send our condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. Kim was active in PICES for many years, firstly as a member and then more recently (November 2020 to November 2023) as a co-Chair of the Advisory Panel on North Pacific Coastal Ocean Observing Systems (AP-NPCOOS). Kim was also the principal organizer of the 2018 PICES Summer School on “Coastal Ocean Observatory Science”, and the 2022 PICES Virtual Summer School on “Ocean Big Data”, both of which provided valuable training for early career scientists around the region. Further details of Kim’s scientific contributions outside of PICES can be found here.
