The Continuous Plankton Recorder Survey of the North Pacific (DATA)
Plankton Abundance

Select the region of interest and a list will be generated of zooplankton and phytoplankton taxa that have been found in samples from that region at least once, together with the number of samples analysed in that region. The list of taxa begins with the most frequently occurring taxa, with the number of samples in which it occurred to the left. Check your taxa of interest and then check 'graph' to display the time series.

Notes: Zooplankton abundances are expressed as mean number of individuals per sample (a sample is approximately 3 m-3) and phytoplankton abundances are expressed as mean number of cells per sample, although phytoplankton counts should only be considered as semi-quantitative. Specific names used are in accordance with the CPR database maintained by SAHFOS and are not necessarily the most recent specific name in use. See Richardson et al. (2006), for more details on taxonomic names used.
